Patrick Henry Community College (PHCC) is a comprehensive two-year college of the Virginia Community College System, serving the City of Martinsville and the counties of Henry and Patrick. PHCC serves approximately 3,500 credit and almost 2,700 non-credit students annually and, consistently ranks among the top ten “Most Tech-Savvy” community colleges in the country by the Center for Digital Education. Patrick Henry Community College is seeking a self-motivated professional and team player to serve as the Public Relations and Marketing Manager. The primary role of this position is to plan and implement a comprehensive, multi-media, public relations and marketing program, while providing supervision and management to the public relations and marketing staff. The PR & Marketing Manager will initiate public relations activities, anticipate and respond to PR and marketing needs of the college and its individual departments; as well as plan, edit and/or produce college communications including print, electronic, Internet and broadcast media, while consistently improving the quality of college publications. Community involvement includes representation at community events, community organizations, and other activities to create new opportunities to promote the college. Also serves as the college webmaster, the college spokesperson with the media and a liaison to the President’s Council. This position reports to the Vice President of Institutional Advancement, Effectiveness and Campus Life and supervises the Media Director, Communications Specialist & Social Media Manager, as well as PR interns and work study students.
Salary: Minimum $42,614 based on qualifications and experience, plus excellent benefits package.

KSA’s and or Competencies required to successfully perform the work
· Considerable working knowledge of public relations, marketing, event planning, promotions and publications strategies.
· Proficiency in layout and design, desktop publishing, photography, writing, and public relations practices.
· Knowledge of the philosophy, organization, operation and culture of the institution.
· Journalism and web site management experience
· Work experience in higher education or other non-profit institution
· Previous supervisory experience
