    Serving as the County spokesperson and media liaison, the Public Information Officer is responsible for internal and external communication of programs, events, campaigns, and projects.  The Public Information Officer develops and implements protocols for dissemination of information through media sources (in routine and emergency situations) by providing information as needed; establishes, develops and maintains relationships with local news organizations, builds and maintains community relations through public meetings and special projects; responds to requests in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act (“FOIA”); supervises production, distribution and maintenance of web/audio/video products and projects; maintains a searchable digital archive of all print and broadcast news coverage, and more.    

     Position requires Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Broadcast Journalism, Marketing or related field, plus eight (8) years of related experience in a municipal/local government setting, with at least five (5) years at a managerial level.
