This year, PRSA is providing chapter-only webinars, which the Blue Ridge Chapter will offer free to members, including PRSSA members. The cost for non-members is $10.
The first webinar, “Crisis Management in a Down Economy: No Margin for Error,” will be presented live on Thursday, April 4, from 1-2 p.m., by Helio Fred Garcia, executive director, Logos Institute for Crisis Management & Executive Leadership.
It will be hosted as a brown bag networking event at two locations: ND&P in downtown Roanoke (410 South Jefferson St.) and Virginia Tech’s Cheatham Hall (third-floor conference room). Visitor parking passes will be provided for those attending in Blacksburg.
Garcia will instruct on survival steps during the earliest moments of crisis to prevent the kinds of self-inflicted harm that ruins reputations, reduces competitiveness and gets CEOs fired. Attendees will gain insight in how to build trust with stakeholders to ensure your company is given the benefit of the doubt, as well as how to provide a clear description of your business model and avoid wrong assumptions regarding what your company can withstand.
Please bring your lunch and plan to arrive at 12:30 p.m. for a half hour of networking. Attendees to the webinar at ND&P are invited to stay for a half hour after and join in a discussion led by Chris Turnbull, director of public relations and crisis management at ND&P. Turnbull is on deck to present “Leadership Under Fire and the Implications for the Communicator” at the Blue Ridge PRSA membership luncheon on Dec. 12.
Register to attend the location that is most convenient for you at www.prsa-blueridge.org. Registration deadlines: Virginia Tech – April 1 / ND&P – April 2. Cost: Members – Free / Guests – $10.
